Hello Parents of Leap Day Babies,

This is for any parent of a Leap Day Baby who is "bummed".
- Why? -
To me, having a Leap Day Baby is extra special. Just look
at the odds.

I have to admit there was a year when I felt like she was
missing out, but the two Leap Birthdays she's had have
been very special. She has four brothers and sisters and
they get there regular birthdays every year, but I am going
to make sure Haleigh has an extra big party every four.

Just think of the exceptional children we will raise. Children
who get their drivers license when they're four, children who
graduate from college before they're six and a child who
won't worry about age...

I sure wish I could tell people I'm going to be ten instead
of forty. And the teen-age years should be pretty easy.

Just as we want to raise a positive child who isn't a Leap
Day Baby, we must emphasize the positive with our
Leapies. Write down the positive things about having a
Leap Day Baby. I tell my daughter her birthday is the
last day in February, so she always has a birthday.

Another way to look at it, is time has a way of going too
fast. It's nice to think I still have a two year old to take
care of. I hope you feel better about being a Parent of a
Leap Day Baby.

Leaping Mom,
Marilyn

Hi!

My daughter received hundreds of birthday greetings
last year from all over the world and she was just
thrilled! Yours was one, so thank you. I'm just writing
to say that Sara knows her day is "special", and that
we always write a 29 on non-Leap calendars...we
simply skip March 1st those years.

Although I was a bit concerned when I over heard
her tell someone her birthday was Feb. 28. I asked
why and she said that sometimes its just too
complicated to explain!

I love the page. Thanks for being there!

From a Mother of Twin Leapies!

Being my first pregnancy, I was told they would be early.
They attempted to be born around New years but the
Doctor just wasn't having it. They were to small still so
she had decided to shoot me up with medication and put
me on bed rest to prolong my pregnancy. My due date
was March 31, 2000. Well on Feb 28, 2000 I went for a
weekly check up only to be sent to the hospital because
my first twin was ready to come and I was dilated to
5CM.

I was not even aware I was in active labor because my
contractions were all over the place. I had assumed they
were braxton hicks. I was told to walk the hospital floors
to see if I would dilate more. I didn't but they admitted me
anyways to observe me. The next day (Feb 29th 2000) I
begged the Dr. to let me go home since she refused to
pop my bag of waters to speed things up. She agreed but
made me promise to rest....and not do anything other then
stay in bed. I did not want to have my twins on leap day
because at the time....I thought it would be a bad thing not
to have a actual DOB 3 out of 4 years. I got back home
after I was released...my husband was on his way back to
work...I was attempting to relax when I hunched over in
pain knowing this was it!! My twins had decided they were
coming because they wanted this special birthday
regardless of how I felt about it.

I go back to the hospital ...The Dr's thinking I am insane at
this time....and sure enough I had dilated to 7cm meaning
I was getting close!! The Dr. decided to break my bag of
waters sometime around 7 or 8 PM (after all the other Leap
Day babies' were born so she could concentrate on us).

Twin A...Francis (Frankie) Dominic was born @ 10:41 PM
and Twin...B Alexis (Lexi) Elana was born @ 11:00 PM.

The three of us became very famous in our town because
we made the front of the local newspaper. The twins are
known as the Millennuim Leap Year twins. They are
indeed very special and now I realize how special it is to
be born on this date!!!
