As the first leap year baby born in my town in 1936, I got a lot of attention. In addition to having my picture in the paper, my parents received a $100 gift certificate to the grocery store. In 1936 that amount of money purchased 2 overflowing carts full of necessities and "luxury" items that they normally couldn't afford. Years later, what a coincidence it was when I found out that my boss was also one of the 1936 leap year babies featured in that newspaper!
