Born in Cleveland, Ohio. Mother told me the nurses encouraged her to hurry with my birth so it could be published in the evening paper. For my first five leap year birthdays I had a picture or some comment in the newspaper. My earliest memory of my special birthday was a pretty blue dress to wear to a party at the Cleveland Statler Hotel Ballroom celebrating leap year birthdays in the city. My parents always made it a special occasion when Leap Year came around. I celebrate on February 28 in years between real birthdays, but from 1932 to 1956 I did not celebrate two leap year birthdays in the same city and state. My father worked for the Carnation Milk Company and each time he was promoted, we moved. I wish all leapers a very happy birthday.
