"Greetings from the beautiful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts -- specifically, Williamstown, the Village Beautiful. I know five other leapers, two of whom were born the same day I was, in the same town; and one of those two was in virtually all my classes in school for many years. One other was just born in 1996, and is the granddaughter of a first cousin. I always celebrate on February 28. When a child, my mother insisted that we celebrate on March 1; so for me, doing the 28th was an assertion of adulthood. I was born on a Sunday, 1948, during a heavy snowstorm in North Adams. As I have gone through my adult years, I find that a lot of people remember my birthday because it is unique, and so when there is a February 29, I get cards and phone calls from lots of folks from whom I have not heard in years, or who otherwise never send me a card. It's fun."
