Leap Year Day happens because the earth takes just a little more than 365 days to go around the sun.

Born 1960
1960 produced a bumper crop of Leap Day babies in Toronto. The Toronto Star published a picture of all the babies born and in grade 3 or 4 I was in the same class as one of the girls in the photo. In 1984, I believe, a deli in the Yorkville area of Toronto threw a party for all leap yearers. While sitting down to eat the server delivered a napkin with a note on it asking if I recognized anyone there. It turned out to be the same girl, now a young lady.
