Leap Day Deniers

Leap Day Deniers

Everybody born on Leap Day has encountered a Leap Day Denier. Most commonly it happens when registering an account on website, and the website states that February 29th is an invalid date. But it happens everywhere. A computer programmer might leave the mark of Leap Day Denial on any computerized form. Sometimes it's obvious, date formatting errors are reported, and sometimes no error is reported, and we're just left to guess we've encountered another Leap Day Denial.

Last Leap Year, The Register featured us, when we complained about Microsoft's Leap Day bugs, and a big toy store chain that denies children born on Leap Day a birthday wish, in three years out of four. We haven't heard from the toy store -- but Microsoft was back at it again in 2012, it's security software failed to accommodate Leap Day.

We will use this page to document more Leap Day Deniers as we find out about them. If you encounter one, please contact us and attach a screenshot if you can.
